Emirates Stadium, London

I am an Arsenal fan and have been so since a young age. It is probably therefore no surprise that the sports ground that I have visited more than any other is the Emirates Stadium in North London.
Arsenal’s previous home was the nearby Highbury Stadium and when the club moved there was a lot of fans disappointed. However, it came at almost the ideal time for me. I was never able to get tickets at the old ground and actually only visited once, but the move to the Emirates corresponded with me entering the world of work and suddenly having some money in my pocket as well. Midweek games in particular worked well for me as I could leave the office and head straight to the ground.
Getting to the ground is best done by public transport given it’s location. For me that means one of three things. For midweek games I will park in Haringey and grab the tube. For weekend I will either get the train straight to Finsbury Park from home or (when this is less reliable) drive to Cockfosters and get the tube in from there. Regardless of the route, my routine is to get off at Finsbury Park, walk down St Thomas’ Road (grabbing a burger on the way), past Highbury and then in to the ground.
The first time I was able to take my eldest was a real proud dad moment and since then I have been able to take all the kids on multiple occasions, always completed with a quick visit to my stone that is laid outside the ground as a present from my wife many years ago.
Despite being around 20yrs old now, I still think of the Emirates Stadium as being the “new” ground but I know I’ll be there many more times in the future!
