I was recently lucky to revisit Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt for the third time in four years. On my first visit we had stayed a little further north and found a nice seafront run in Nabq Bay. However, on my last visit we had only managed to find a run along a 4 lane road which was not very inspiring. Therefore on this trip I was determined to find a nicer route to run.
We were staying at the Baron Palms Resort which is just set back from the sea but has direct access to the beach via a boulevard of shops. Fortunately for us, there is a promenade along this front which is perfect for a morning jog.

This promenade passes in front of several hotels and the route would be perfect for stays in any of them. The other hotels being Coral Sea Imperial Sensatori, Baron Resort Sharm el Sheikh, Cyrene Beach Resort, Pickalbatros Palace Resort and Sunrise Renal Resort.
When I was running in Nabq Bay, most of the hotels had gates so the runs could be a bit stop/start. However, here in Al Montazah it was a free flow from end to end. Across the areas in front of hotels, the stretch is about 2km in total, there is then a further stretch of about 500m that is still paved but runs past some unbuilt land. The total loop then falls just short of 5km in total. As can be seen from the profile, it’s pretty flat as well.

This unbuilt or unfinished land is common in the area and on a future day I did venture on to the roads behind the hotels. Shark has been hit with multiple setbacks over the years so a lot of hotels and villas have been started and then left as shells. However, whilst usually the hotels and their immediate vicinity is well looked after, often the rest of the land is littered and I would suggest sticking to the seafront path is the better option here.
We were here in early December and it quickly got warm but if you are staying in this resort, this is a good route for getting your daily run in.
